Have You Heard the News?
No, not the news about the Boundary Waters Canoe Area permit reservation fee going down. We still haven’t heard anything from the USFS regarding that issue unfortunately. All I know for sure is there are some upset folks who have reserved permits early and are now being penalized for it. There are also upset outfitters who have spent money on producing brochures and rack cards with BWCA permit costs on them and are now either going to look incompetent or are going to have to go through a considerable expense to have them reprinted. That and of course websites that have been updated that will need a webmaster’s attention again to adjust the prices. That is all news but what I’m referring to is the business adventure our famous Chelsea from Voyageur Canoe Outfitters has dove into.
Chelsea Lueck, office guru extraordinaire of Voyageur Canoe Outfitters is now the proud owner of The Gunflint Mercantile in Grand Marais, MN. She moved to the end of the Gunflint Trail in February of 2009 and has lived and worked at Voyageur Canoe Outfitters for the past two years.
When she first arrived at Voyageur she told us she wanted to own her own business. Just two short years later her dream has come true with the Gunflint Mercantile. She took over Gunflint Mercantile on February 1st, 2011. Her expertise will be missed greatly atVoyageur Canoe Outfitters but will serve her well in her new adventure.
