Happy Medium

Is a C really average?  I’m not sure if January 3rd, 2008 is a C day or not and I’m not sure there is such a thing as a happy medium either.  I don’t think I would be happy if it were just medium because to me it implies that both sides had to give some in order to reach an agreement.  Kind of like that saying, "All work and no play…"  What do they say about "All play and no work?"

Last night when I drove home the temperature was -7 degrees and I listened to the wind howl all night long.  It sounded really cold outside so it came as a surprise when I found the temprature was 18 degrees out in the morning.  I was happy to see that because I was meeting friends to go cross country skiing.

We planned to meet at 8:30 at the house where my friend’s daughter would be babysat.  Of course I was 5 minutes late but luckily she was 10 minutes late so I still beat her there.  Our other skiing companion rolled in around 8:47 and by the time we decided the route and got to the Trail head it was after 9 am.

We decided to do a big loop since my friend had a babysitter.  A big loop we did and it took us a long time too.  We probably skied 8 or more miles and I didn’t get back home until noon!  WOW, talk about an all day affair.

It’s a good thing to take time to go skiing but there’s that good old guilt again.  I probably should have been working, there’s so much to do, gosh I shouldn’t have went skiing.  Then I thought about trying to figure out the hours in the day and what I spend them doing in any given week.  After thinking about it for awhile I decided there’s probably a happy medium, but is there really such a thing?
