Gunflint Green Up 2011

The fourth Gunflint Green Up on the Gunflint Trail is just a month away and we’d love to have you come stay with us at Voyageur for the weekend.  The weekend’s activities focus on the greening of the Gunflint Trail after the Ham Lake Fire of 2007.

Activities begin on Friday,  May 6th and continue on Saturday, May 7th.  There will be Walks and Talks as well as a fire ecology hike on the Seagull River Nature Trail less than 2 miles from Voyageur.  Friday night a dinner will be served followed by a presentation about the history of mining on the Gunflint Trail.

On Saturday folks will start the day by planting trees in areas burned by the fire.  Bag lunches will be provided and then that evening there’s a dinner and dance for participates to attend.  You can find out more information about rates at the Gunflint Green Up website.

We’re offering a special weekend package for Gunflint Green Up participants.  Guests reserving a cabin or lodge unit will receive free use of a boat and motor during their stay and guests choosing to stay in a private bunkhouse will be able to use or canoes or kayaks free of charge.  Free breakfast on both Saturday and Sunday will be provided as well.
