Give the Gift of a Fishing License

It doesn’t have to be a special occasion to give someone a gift, especially if it’s a gift of a fishing license.  For just $304 you can purchase a Minnesota lifetime fishing license for any resident age 3 and under and for $415 for someone age 4 to 15. It’s a little more expensive if you are age 16 to 50 at $508 but once you hit 51 it’s only $335 for the lifetime angling license. What a great gift for someone who loves to fish.

Wouldn’t it be nice to not have to renew your Minnesota Fishing license each year? As an issuer of fishing licenses I know I would sure like more people to have Lifetime Fishing Licenses. It would save everyone money and it would save issuers like me time.

I finally found time to look at the 2014 Minnesota Fishing Regulations and I learned a couple of things.  I didn’t realize youth age 16 and 17  can purchase a fishing license for just $5 and they are exempt from purchasing a trout stamp. It doesn’t matter if they are from Minnesota or not it only costs $5, what a great deal. I also didn’t realize you could get a 3 year angling license for $38, that’s pretty good since an annual license is $22.

You can purchase your license or a license for someone else online at http://www.mndnr.gov/buyalicense and by telephone at 888-665-4236. Mobile buyers receive a text or email that serves as proof of a valid fish or game license to state conservation officers. Buying a license ahead of time is a good way to spend more time on the water and less time in line waiting for a license.

It’s a two for one gift giving opportunity! A gift for the individual you purchase the lifetime license for and the license issuers too.
