Fall on the Gunflint

Sometime, during the blur of the past two weeks, the leaves have started to change colors.  It seems like yesterday was Summer and today it is Fall.  The days are becoming shorter, the nights a little bit cooler and fall is in the air.  Since June we have lost almost two full hours of daylight!  Right now sunrise isn’t until 6:20 AM and sunset is around 8:00 PM.  It is hard to believe it will soon be September.  There is still a little bit of August left and the forecast for next week calls for some nice paddling weather with daytime temperatures in the 70’s.  Now that things have quieted down it is a great time to plan an end of summer canoe trip or northwoods vacation.
