Dog Chow Takes on New Meaning
I am guessing most of you have heard about the guy who was stranded in the wilderness and ate his dog to survive. It’s something I don’t ever want to have to consider doing.
Marco Lavoie spent three months stranded in Western Quebec after a bear attacked him, wrecked his boat and ravaged his supplies. His dog saved his life when it scared off the bear and saved it again as it provided sustenance for Lavoie to live on until rescued. He was barely alive when the rescuers found him.
I guess there was controversy regarding him eating his dog to survive. A couple of articles detail his ordeal.
I can’t imagine being so hungry I would eat my dog. I think if I was alone in the wilderness I would rather have my dog as a companion than a meal especially after it had chased off a bear. I guess we never truly know what we would do until we are in a similar situation. I hope I don’t ever have to find out.
