Day Hiking Pack List

Hiking on the Gunflint Trail is one of my favorite fall activities.  I love the smell, the sights, and the freedom the trails offer.  As far as my legs are willing to take me I will go and there is no better place to enjoy the nature and the solitude of the northwoods.  Since I do alot of hiking on my own and I normally don’t see anyone else I always prepare for the worst.

I carry a day pack with all of my survival essentials no matter how short the hike is and I rarely unpack it.  Mike started digging through it when he and Abby were preparing for an overnight trip and I caught him; it wasn’t pretty.  Anyway, I keep these items in there because I want to know they are there.  I also use this pack if we need to go out on a Search and Rescue Call for the Gunflint Trail Volunteer Fire Department.  Now, for the contents of my pack…
