Cross-Country Skiing on the Gunflint Trail
Tis the season for cross-country skiing and Cook County is the place to do it. We’ve got over 400 kilometers of ski trails to travel located throughout the County. The Gunflint Trail has some of the best cross-country ski trails of varying degrees of difficulty and length. When you’re staying at Voyageur Canoe Outfitters you’re just a short drive from the trails around Gunflint Lake. These are fun trails through the woods and up on ridges that offer great views and some exciting downhill sections. Whether you’re looking for a quick loop or an all day adventure you can find the perfect route and awesome conditions in Cook County Minnesota.
How to purchase:
- The Great Minnesota Ski Pass can be purchased in person any place that sells DNR permits and licenses, online or by phone 1-888-665-4236.
- Trail Systems: Sugarbush, Norpine, Bally Creek, Pincushion, Banadad
- Ski Pass Rates – Daily: $10 | One-year: $25 | Three-year: $70
- Anyone 16 and older needs to purchase a ski pass. Pass can be used at any other location around the state.
- Privately run cross-country ski trail system tickets can be purchased directly from a lodge associated with the system.
- Central Gunflint Ski Trail System – Bearskin Lodge or Golden Eagle Lodge
- Adult Rates (for non-guests) – Daily: $18 ($12 after 1pm) | 3-day: $36 | Season Pass: $100
- Child Rates (for non-guests) – Daily: $8 ($6 after 1pm) | 3-day: $18 | Season Pass: $40
- Upper Gunflint Ski Trail System – Gunflint Lodge, Gunflint Pines Resort and Heston’s Country Store & Lodge
- Adult Rates: Daily $15
- Child Rates: Daily $8
