Cool Nights and Campfires in the BWCA
Thanks to the shorter days and recent precipitation including almost a quarter of an inch of rain yesterday the campfire restrictions in the Boundary Waters have been lifted. That’s good news for canoe campers in the wilderness who love to sit around a fire.
With sunset coming earlier in the fall it’s especially nice to be able to have a campfire before 6pm. When I take canoe trips in the summer I can barely stay awake long enough to wait until it’s dark outside to enjoy a campfire. This time of the year even I can handle waiting until it’s dark but I certainly don’t have to thanks to recent rains.
