Cook County Fun on Lutsen Mountain
Winter fun is here in Cook County. In addition to snowmobiling, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing we have great downhill skiing. Lutsen Mountain downhill ski area is open with plenty of fun runs to ski on.
Lutsen isn’t your typical Minnesota downhill ski hill. I’ve seen ski hills like Ski Gull that look more like a sledding hill than a ski hill. I’ve skiied at Powder Ridge and Wild Mountain but I’ve spent more time riding the lifts than actually skiing. Even Giant’s Ridge that boasts about it’s fantastic skiing doesn’t come close to skiing at Lutsen.
Downhill skiing at Lutsen is more like downhill skiing in the mountains or MIchigan with long runs and lots of vertical drop. The scenery is the best I’ve seen with a one of a kind view of Lake Superior and the Superior National Forest. It’s a wonderful place for beginners and experts alike.
The nightlife there is awesome too. There are lots of festivals, bands and activities going on for guests to partake in when the sun goes down. If you’re looking for a downhill ski trip and you don’t want to head West this year just head North to Lutsen, you’ll be glad you did!
