Boundary Waters lakes liquid once again

Just in time for the Minnesota fishing opener many of the Boundary Waters lakes are liquid once again. Thanks to very warm temperatures, a little bit of wind and some rain the ice disappeared faster than anyone could have predicted. Most of the lakes around the Gunflint Trail still had ice on them last week but by the weekend and over the weekend the water was sparkling beneath the sunshine. Clay from Voyageur Canoe Outfitters took a boat ride on Saganaga Lake on Friday, May 13th to confirm it. The water is very high as you can see in the video of the Red Rock portage, no portage necessary right now!
