Boundary Waters Campsites Open

The bear problem has been solved apparently. Here’s a note from the USFS.

The campsites on Caribou and Little Caribou will be opened tomorrow August 20, 12:01 am for visitor use in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness.   There have been no additional reports of bear activity in the area, but we are still working closely with DNR Conservation Officers to locate the bears and take care of the problem.
Please remind your visitors  the importance of a clean campsite and how to  properly store and hang all food items or anything scented that could be mistaken for food ex: chewing gum, toothpaste and so on.  Along with these tips, encourage visitors to not leave food packs unattended on the portages.  There will be signs on portages reminding visitors as well.
