Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon

I doubt the organizers of the John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon had concerns about trail conditions prior to this past warm spell. We had so much snow early in the season it never crossed my mind. We’re just  days away from the start of the 33rd Annual Race and organizers are confident the conditions are good to go.

I went snowmobiling on Saturday and was surprised at how good of shape the trails were in. Close to the lake the snow piles have gotten smaller but up in the woods away from the open water there’s good snow pack.

The forecast calls for cooler temperatures which will be good for the trails and the dogs. There are even snow flurries in the forecast so let’s get ready for some Beargrease fun.
