And the Fun Begins for 2012 Mush for a Cure

The balloons are blown up, the banners are hung and even the moose on the Trail are dressed in pink.

Windigo is decked out in Pink for the Mush for a Cure Kick-Off Party. It’s a Slumber Party complete with Twister, pajamas and a bed in the bar. There are pillows, stuffed animals, bean bag chairs and a band for dancing before the Bald, Brave and Beautiful Head Shaving.

Tonight’s contestants are USFS District Ranger Dennis Neitzke and Don Kufahl from Gunflint Lodge. Dennis’s hair has been pink for 5 days now because he raised $2500 in pledges. After tonight his pink locks will be gone and he will be Bald, Brave and Beautiful.

Men who are willing to dye their hair pink and have their heads shaved are indeed beautiful. It takes a very beautiful person to volunteer to do such a thing and we’re happy to have them as a part of Mush for a Cure.

Tomorrow’s activities will begin on Gunflint Lake in front of Gunflint Pines. The short course skijor event starts at 10am and the mass sourdough start for the big event is at noon. It’s awesome to watch the teams line up for the sourdough start.

We hope you’ll join us for the 2012 Mush for a Cure!
