A Great Day for Winter Play

A Saturday at home and the winter recreational opportunities are endless.  Mike’s out ice fishing with Josh and I can’t decide if I’d rather ski, snowshoe or join them to wet a line?  Too many choices and too little time when you want to do them all.

Next week at this time we’ll be getting ready for the mushing event to start at Mush for a Cure.  The sourdough start is at noon on Gunflint Lake.  It’s where all of the mushers lie down on the ice in a sleeping bag without their boots on.  When the shotgun sounds they rush to get their boots on, get their dogs onto the gangline and get going in the right direction.  It’s an organized sort of chaos that is awesome to witness.  You’ll have to come and see for yourself.

I’m not sure what will give me bigger chills at this year’s Mush for a Cure…  The start of the actual Mush or when we release pink sky lanterns on Saturday night?  It’s a special event and we’d love to have you there with us.
