A Foot of New Snow

When the forecasters said there was a chance of rain or snow I didn’t think they meant an entire foot of new snow.  I also didn’t think that snow would be so wet and heavy that it would sink the entire sheet of ice on Saganaga Lake.  We were out fishing on Sag with more than 2 feet of ice on Sunday and now it’s open water.  It’s crazy to see such a quick transformation of a Boundary Waters lake.

While parts of me wishes the above paragraph was true, the other part is happy it isn’t.  It’s that one day a year when it’s ok to tell a lie or as the kids like to say, "April Fools!"
