A Fishy Father’s Day

To all of you Dads out there, Happy Father’s Day, we hope you have an awesome day.  We won’t be doing much to celebrate the day here at Voyageur since I tell Mike every day is Father’s Day in our house.  He is treated like royalty 364 days out of the year, the one day he isn’t is on my birthday!

I hope all of the dads who want to go fishing for Father’s Day get the opportunity.  I remember one Mother’s Day I was able to go fishing and it was one of the best Mother’s Days I have celebrated.  Wouldn’t it be special to land a trophy fish or come home with a dinner of fresh walleye for this Father’s Day?

While this didn’t happen on Father’s Day it did happen and it’s one of those things that you can’t describe with words.  John Ortgiesen from California was on a solo trip in the Quetico Park earlier this year when he saw the following from his canoe.

Talk about awesome!  I’ve had fish follow the canoe or try to attack the fish I’m reeling in but never one as big as that Northern Pike.  May your Father’s Day and every day be filled with pleasant surprises.
