Rivers Flow on the Gunflint Trail
It’s fun to listen to and see water as it rushes to its destination. With recent rains our creeks and rivers are filled and flowing. The Cross River is attracting some canoeists and there’s plenty of water in Larch Creek. Tessa was out on a trip recently and was very happy to be able to paddle through the 5 rod portage from 3rd Bay of Saganaga to Swamp Lake. Sometimes high water levels make spotting portages a little more tricky because the normal erosion is beneath the water. It can also make portages become streams themselves. Some wind, sunshine and hot temperatures will change the situation quickly but until then I’ll enjoy the abundance of water.
