Sun

I really enjoy spending time outside and it is something I do quite often.  I am usually very careful with protecting myself from the sun but with all of the sunshine we have had the past couple of weeks I have ended up with a tan; and my kids even ended up with a sunburn.  There are quite a few ways to protect yourself from the harmful rays of the sun.  One is to stay inside from 10-2 when the rays are the most harmful.  You can also choose clothing that will give you the maximum protection from the sun; some clothing even has SPF built into it.  A wide-brimmed hat and a large pair of sunglasses will do wonders to protect your face and head from the hot sun.  Sunscreen is a must and I am a firm believer of putting it on every morning even if the sun is not shining.  One application of sunscreen may not be enough especially if you are sweating or spending time in the water like my kids the other day.  I always throw away last year’s sunscreen and start fresh each season so I know I have an effective product.  We apply the lotion liberally and go through many bottles of SPF 45 in the summer.  All of this effort and we still end up with a tan, but if it’s just a tan and not skin cancer, then I guess it’s worth it.  The next time you head outside be sure to protect yourself(and your kids) from the harmful rays of the sun.
