Spring Canoe Trip

All of this wonderful weather is really getting me excited to take a spring canoe camping trip.  It is such a great time of the year to go out camping; no bugs, no people, and the opportunity to view lots of wildlife.  As long as you take into consideration the temperature of the water and use proper care and extra caution on the water, then it is a terrific time to paddle.  Every year we try to get out in the Spring but with all of the projects and uncooperative weather it has yet to happen.  Hopefully this will be the year to make it happen.  The moose are always plentiful and this is the best time of the year to look for their shed antlers on the portage trails.  By mid-summer the antlers have either been found, eaten, or dragged away by another forest creature.  This is also a good time to see all of the different waterfowl since many are just stopping in on their way farther north.  Spring guests have heard the wolves howl and have even been greeted by them.  This is such a wonderful place, you’ve got to come up and head out into the woods and see for yourself.
