Get a Job Groundhog

     The Groundhog’s days of weather forecasting are over.  His career has been terminated and I’m not sure what sort of future an unemployed groundhog has.

     I would like to describe the weather on the Gunflint Trail today as ridiculous.  It’s been raining off and on since last night, not freezing rain because it’s 35 degrees above zero.  We’ve received over a tenth of an inch of rain and it’s still coming down.  How annoying! 

     Our snowbanks that were at record high are slowly shrinking.  No more jumping off of the deck into the snow for Josh and Abby.  The slush that was on the lakes?  Don’t worry about that either just bring your ice skates.  Not for the lakes, but for the roads!

     There will still be plenty of snow when the rain decides to quit.  It will just have a nice crust of ice on top.  It will snow again, not to worry.  Until then I’m going to continue to be aggravated with both Mother Nature and the Groundhog(who better find a new hole in the ground before I dig him a permanent residence)!

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN DULUTH HAS ISSUED A FREEZING RAIN
ADVISORY…WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON CST TODAY.

A LARGE AREA OF RAIN IS ADVANCING TOWARDS THE ARROWHEAD EARLY THIS MORNING. ALTHOUGH MOST AREAS HAVE WARMED ABOVE FREEZING…A
STUBBORN WEDGE OF NEAR OR SLIGHTLY BELOW FREEZING AIR PERSISTS
FROM GRAND PORTAGE TOWARDS GRAND MARAIS AND EXTENDING INLAND.
THE MAIN CONCERN AT THIS TIME IS FOR A QUICK ACCUMULATION OF
ICE. THIS WILL BE PARTICULARLY THE CASE ON HIGHWAY 12 INLAND FROM
GRAND MARAIS(otherwise known as the Gunflint Trail). BE PREPARED FOR DIFFICULT DRIVING ON ANY UNTREATED ROADS.

A FREEZING RAIN ADVISORY MEANS THAT PERIODS OF FREEZING RAIN OR
FREEZING DRIZZLE WILL CAUSE TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR
SLIPPERY ROADS. SLOW DOWN AND USE CAUTION WHILE DRIVING.
