Alpine Lake Fire

Firefighters have their work cut out for them again today.  The forecast calls for higher wind speeds of up to 18 mph and possibly a change in direction later in the day.  This always is a concern when working with forest fires.  They will continue to make fire lines, do back burns, and drop water and retardant in order to help contain the fire.  According to the USFS at this time the fire is 15% contained and has burned 1045 acres.  Today begins the start of the fire ban in the BWCA, this means no open fires at anytime.  Gas and propane stoves may be used at anytime during the day.
