Adopt a Sled Dog
I have a friend named Mary Black who lives East of Grand Marais. I am envious of her because she and her husband Mark are the owners of Black Magic Kennels. They train and race sled dogs during the winter months, something I have always wanted to do. Theresa, who has worked for Voyageur the past two summers, is working at the Black Magic Kennels this winter. She gets to help feed and train all of those wonderful dogs.
Mary has started a new program called, B.L.A.C.K., Black’s Love a Canine Klub, where you can adopt your very own sled dog. It’s a great program that will keep you in touch with the life of your very own sled dog. You can see what dogs are available for adoption on Mary’s Blog, Off the Beaten Path. There are different adoption levels and you can read about those below. This would make a nice Christmas Gift for someone who loves dogs or dog sled racing. I plan on adopting one so I better hurry up and choose a dog before they are all spoken for.
