Wildlife Sightings on the Gunflint Trail
The animals on the Gunflint Trail have been a little more active this past week than they have during the rest of the winter. I saw a momma moose and her calf from last year while driving home, a deer while cross-country skiing, a snowshoe hare, a grouse and a red squirrel all close to Voyageur. I also saw lots of different animal tracks while out cross-country skiing.
There were lots of deer tracks on the ski trails near Gunflint Lake. There were also wolf tracks, otter tracks and I'm pretty sure Canadian Lynx tracks. It's such a treat to be out after a fresh fallen snow and see what critters have been there before you.
The Gunflint Trail is a great place to see wildlife so come see for yourself!
